The movie Contagion (2011) describes the rapid spread of an unknown virus to the whole world and this process. Just like the virus Covid-19, which has spread rapidly around the world nowadays (unfortunately, it continues to spread rapidly in our country). But the mortality rate of the virus (MEV-1) on humans is much higher than Covid-19. Nearly 3 out of 4 people die of this virus. While our female character in the movie is on a business trip, she gets the virus they called MEV-1 after shaking hands with a Hong Kong chef who takes it from a pig infected by a bat. This woman is the first case detected. After the virus started to spread rapidly – just like the situation we live in today – all markets are looted, people stock up everything. A journalist who wants to take a share of this chaos earns millions of dollars by publishing online and selling a drug that does not work. Nowadays, many scam people who want to take advantage of people’s panic sell counterfeit drugs. Recently, celebrities have advertised money for an unapproved supplement food that “heals this product even if you get caught in the coronavirus”, which is an example of fraud. One of the things that impressed me the most in the movie was that people were really going wild. Unfortunately, we are experiencing these days as much as an exaggeration.

   Let’s leave aside the cases of the virus in the movie and the people who died, a separate drama in the process after the vaccination came out. It is very unfair that they give the vaccine to people according to their birthdays. They distribute treatment as if they draw a national lottery. Interesting. Doctors who have accessed the vaccine first apply this treatment to their relatives. It is also unfair to have people who have immediate access to treatment by their relatives, although the public waits for months for the vaccine. Everyone thinks of himself, then his wife and children. Perhaps now, while we are struggling with the coronavirus, someone has found their treatment and have already administered the vaccine to all their relatives. In the same situation, we will probably give priority to ourselves and our family by separating them. Another point that I would like to mention is that during the vaccination process, many animals are tested and they are killed. The vaccination is very good news, but as an animal lover, these facts affected me very deeply. People are always wild when it comes to their own lives.

   If I had watched the Contagion movie before, it would have seemed like an exaggerated and ridiculous movie. And I was so bored, maybe I wouldn’t even watch it to the end. It seemed as if it was not believable that a virus, which was not known, would infect millions of people from just one person and kill millions. If I had watched this movie last year, I couldn’t have watched this movie so carefully (I wouldn’t want to believe that people could be so selfish) and confused by the confusion of events, creating chaos and panic. Perhaps the scenario would not have happened if the Hong Kong chef had washed his hands. Though they could get sick because they ate pork. I do not know. As a result, hygiene is the only thing that can save us. We must constantly wash our hands. I thought a lot about watching this movie and it caused me anxiety disorder. The most important thing we can do is to protect ourselves and our loved ones by not leaving home, providing social isolation and washing our hands abundantly. I hope these pandemic days will pass soon and everything will be much better than before. I wish everyone to be much cleaner after that. #stayhomesavelives
